Ocean Voyager 70’ “Tara” was built to specifications based on the experienced gained from thousands of miles of cruising. The builders have well over 100,000 miles of world cruising in both sailboats and power boats. Tara was conceived to be the ultimate 2 person cruising yacht, but her 5 staterooms layout and her very voluminous interior give the owners the possibility of catering for family members, friends or crew. She is designed and constructed to be a rugged trawler yacht with good range, 1400nm, and an exceptionally efficient and economical cruising speed:
• 9.5kts at 3.5 Ga/hr (13l/hr)
• or 2.7 nm/gallon, (.7 nm/l).
Ocean Voyager previously built, cruised and sold “Acharne”, an 80’ sailing hull converted to a long range power boat to:

The boat was wildly successful and has since crossed the Atlantic around the Cape of Good Hope, and circumnavigated the Indian ocean. From that experience Tara was born, to be more luxurious with more accommodation but still the trademark of the builders, great access to machineries, and commercial quality.
• Sailing hulls generally make great power boats. They are faster, more efficient, less windage, more comfortable at sea, and easier to handle in adverse conditions.
• The original hull was built by a prestigious New England shipyard. The hull was then shipped to Canada and completely re-designed and completed based on the experience with “Acharne”
CONSTRUCTION PHILOSOPHY
• 1. The boat must be strong to endure the worst conditions
• 2. All systems must be rugged, proven and reliable, choice of equipment and systems in very important
• 3. All systems must be easily accessible, this reduces future problems, maintenance, and repairs
• 4. Vessel must be as economical as possible: more money spent on fuel, less money for cruising. Attaining zero generator time at anchor is one of the parameters of Ocean Voyager. Without usage of AC the boat and good sun the boat can anchor without using any generator.
• 5. Vessel must be suitable for long term liveaboard cruising with big solar systems, great ventilation, superior anchor gear, lots of water, good insulation, low maintenance, low power consumption, practical systems.
